Question

Would you consider there to be any danger to a three-week-old baby going to an altitude of 1250 metres for a week?

I'd like to go skiing.

Answer

I can't foresee any particular problems if you take a small baby away on a skiing holiday, even if the baby is as young as three-weeks-old.

Provided the baby is generally well and has no serious medical condition, there should be no problems if you are planning to fly, and the altitude of the resort won't pose any health hazards.

Of course, it may be extremely cold in a ski resort and as a newborn baby can lose heat from the body very rapidly, you will need to keep the baby well wrapped up.

If you take plenty of warm clothes, including headgear, for the baby, you should be fine. I hope you have a great holiday!

Yours sincerely
